Permission handling system

Permissions in DAYDABASE are based on three components:

OBJECT may be either a dataset in a table (object mode) or a table column (field mode).

In object mode the OBJECT is specified by

  • the table which the object belongs to
  • by the numerical id or other properties of the object

In field mode the OBJECT is specified by

  • the table
  • a column name.


USERS may be specified by

  • the name of the user
  • a group the user belongs to
  • special user groups
    • everybody
    • registered users
    • users belonging to at least one group
    • the owner of the object
